Everyday Change

Who Cares If It Turns Out Right?

Everyday_change_50x50
Unless you're building a skyscraper or fixing a brain, there's room for error in your work. Sometimes, not forcing greatness/perfection leads to bigger and better ideas. So let go of whether a project is "right," and just let it be what it'll be.
"I have found myself in the middle of many unexpected changes and this book is really helping me navigate and see things through a different perspective. Many blessings for your courage and journey to bring to life this important work."-David

The Fairest Diet of Them All

The Fairest Diet of Them All

Any idea what could be the healthiest diet of them all?

Wait…for…it…ding ding ding, we have a winner! It’s the Mediterranean Diet!

In case you haven’t heard of it, the Mediterranean Diet isn’t a regimented diet like Weight Watchers, but rather a way of life. It revolves around vegetables, fruits, beans, grains and fish, with olive oil being the primary fat and wine being the way to wash it all down. In other words, it contrasts greatly with the common American diet that relies on saturated fat, red meat and a lot of dairy for calories.

In addition to substantial scientific evidence for the healthiness of the Mediterranean way of eating (it's been proven to decrease the risk of many diseases), its stand-out feature is that it’s a lifestyle, not just a set of eating habits. As Peter Libby, M.D. says, "It’s a mistake to think of a diet as a temporary measure; instead, it is a lifetime commitment to healthy choices.” Fortunately, the Mediterranean Diet consists of tasty and healthy foods you can commit to eating indefinitely!

That’s the key word: “indefinitely.” If you can’t envision sticking to the cabbage diet, Atkins or even a restricted diet you create for yourself for the long-term, then those short-term gains (well, losses!) will inevitably be reversed. Scroll up and look at the food types involved again. Which do you favor? How many of them make up your daily intake? Which can be turned into a fulfilling snack that would win out over cake or cookies? [Nytimes.com]

Hmm, I might have to look into this more...can anyone recommend a good red wine that's a bit sweet? I'm not a fan of dry, bitter wine. And I'd like to drink it because it's good for you, but I'm not succeeding in finding what I want.

Yes, I love eating more Mediterranean-style. And I love any diet/lifestyle that lets me enjoy my red wine!
