Pinkberry Not So Healthy

Remember that “Seinfeld” episode when Jerry and Elaine became obsessed with a non-fat yogurt store that Kramer invests in? Then Jerry and Elaine gain weight and find out that the yogurt is actually full of fat and everyone finds out?

Apparently, the makers of Pinkberry, the wildly popular yogurt store in New York and California, don’t watch “Seinfeld” all that often. The company used to market its yogurt as “healthy” and “all-natural,” but once the company was forced to list its ingredients as a result of a class-action lawsuit, people realized that the yogurt was nowhere close to all-natural.

The ingredient list, in fact, has 23 different elements, including all those words you can’t pronounce like lactoglycerides and malodextrin that are absolutely not part of an all-natural, healthy diet. Pinkberry’s competitor, Red Mango, only uses 14 ingredients in its yogurt and doesn’t use the artificial stuff that Pinkberry does.

So if you’re thinking that frozen yogurt is an element of living healthier and eating well, you’re better off staying away. [The New York Times]
