When exercising, when is the best time to stretch? Before or after a workout?

I do before and after. But I think it's most important before so you don't pull a muscle. Imagine stretching a cold piece of silly putty versus a warm piece of silly putty. :X

I may be wrong but I heard that its best if you do it before and after. Before b/c you muscles are cold and you want to get them ready for the work out and after to cool them down.
