Start a Home Smoking Ban

Start a Home Smoking Ban

Your health and the health of your family is likely one of the top reasons you’re trying to quit smoking. One of the ways you can help yourself in your goal as well as keep your family safe and healthy is by instituting a smoking ban at home. That way, home joins the ranks of restaurants, movie theaters and office buildings where cigarettes are not allowed.

By starting a no-smoking policy at home, you'll have a positive influence on your kids. A new study provides evidence that parents who don’t smoke at home are more likely to have teens who don’t smoke cigarettes. The study also showed that the reverse can be true: Parents who smoked at home had teens who found smoking to be more socially acceptable and were therefore more likely to smoke. The teens with parents who smoked were also more likely to estimate higher smoking rates within their community.

So even if you think your teens aren’t paying attention to what you say and do, they are.
