Harry Potter Smokes!

The internet was abuzz this morning about Daniel Radcliffe, the 18-year-old actor who plays Harry Potter in the lucrative film franchise, and his affinity for cigarettes. Apparently his addiction is so bad that he smokes every time the director calls “cut” and the cast and crew have called him “Harry Puffer” (though whether they call him this to his face is a question).

According to some reports, everyone in the cast and crew is working to explain the dangers of smoking to Radcliffe and help him kick his addiction. Even the studio is telling Radcliffe to quit smoking, saying that he is endangering the franchise by tarnishing his school boy image.

Maybe Daniel could use some advice on quitting smoking from Cheryl Healton, Ph.D., from the American Legacy Foundation. That’s the group behind the Truth campaign commercials. Maybe they can show him the real effects of smoking. [The Times of India]
