Giggling Towards Happiness

One could say that John Cleese is an expert in laughter. After all, he has made people laugh for decades with the Monty Python series of shows and movies, and who could forget him in “A Fish Called Wanda” when he’s being held upside down outside a building window by Kevin Klein? Straight or silly, the man is hilarious.

So it’s no surprise that he would travel to India in search of laughter clubs to find out why they are so popular. Started by a doctor in Mumbai, these groups believe laughter—whether genuine or forced—increases oxygen to the body, helps people unwind from stress and boosts your immune system. Oh, and you can’t be sad when you’re laughing. Even prisoners in Bombay are doing it to help allay the sense of anger and depression that many of them feel.

So here’s the best advice you’ll ever get for being happier: laugh a little!

I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly. I try to laugh as much as possible every day. You may be down and out, but laughter will lift you to new heights.
