Question:Would you have 18 kids????

I have to admit, I'm a TLC fanatic. I watch "Jon & Kate Plus 8" every week no matter what, and I just noticed that the Duggars...you know, the family that LITERALLY has 17 kids and one on the way...has their own reality show produced just like the Gosselin's show. Not that I'm not fascinated by people's family lives, but the only thought that runs in my head during this show is MY GOODNESS THIS WOMAN LITERALLY GAVE BIRTH TO 17 CHILDREN (and one more soon). It makes me wonder...would you ever want to have 18 kids??

Answer:

I too believe that any child is a blessing, but I agree with other posters that you simply can't give each child the attention he/she deserves. I also don't know how you would handle it financially. I'm sure they are getting some sort of help, but still...

Answer:

I don't think that, with 18 children running around, the parents can possibly be giving each individual child the attention that it deserves. It also seems to me that the girls (as they grow older) get roped into taking care of the younger children, rather than being able to pursue their own activities and be individuals. I've only seen the show once or twice, so I could be wrong, but I know that that is a common theme with families with several children.

It's nice that she was so lucky to have kids when many women struggle with fertility problems, but this is excessive. Also, isn't there some link between overpopulation and global warming/depletion of resources?

18 kids?? I mean, every child is a blessing but I imagine 18 blessings is quite a handful...

It really is hard to imagine. I wonder how long it's been since Mrs. Duggars wasn't with child.
