Celebrate Your Empty Nest

Icon_tip_1

It’s finally happening—your baby is moving out and leaving the nest. Whether this is a day of great excitement, sadness or both, you are starting a new life as the parent of an adult child.

First 30 Days is here to help. Over the next month, you can expect to:
• Cope with your children’s departure from home.
• Redefine your identity as a parent.
• Reconnect with your spouse.
• Discover your goals and dreams.
• Be proud of yourself for raising such a great kid.

Though you may not feel like it today, take time to congratulate yourself for being such a great parent. You have spent many years nurturing and guiding your children toward independence; they can now go out and explore a world of possibilities and opportunities.

DID YOU KNOW? Empty nest syndrome is not a clinical medical diagnosis, so there are few hard numbers on how many parents are affected every year. With 5 million students expected to graduate high school and college each year, it is likely that millions of parents go through it every year.
