Relieve Your Heart

Icon_tip_2

Whether you are recovering from a heart attack or have been told you have heart disease symptoms, the quickest way to alleviate some of your inner turmoil and anxiety is to share it with others. By sharing your concerns, worries and emotions about your condition with friends and family you immediately lighten the emotional load on your heart. Within days of being diagnosed many people feel the need to talk about their past mistakes, regrets and even their thoughts surrounding their own mortality.

Make an effort not to dwell on what you should or could have done. Turn your attention to what you are now capable of doing. Feeling guilty or even embarrassed is also common during this time, but beating yourself up only puts additional stress on your heart, which right now desperately needs to start healing. There is plenty of time to get things in order; to make changes to your lifestyle and perhaps even to your overall approach to living. For now, take the blame out of your heart disease and be grateful for all the love and support you have to help you focus on getting better!

Want another place to share your fears? Ask a question in our community, where others are also coming to terms with heart disease.
