Socialize on TV

Socialize on TV

Social networking fans will be excited to hear that soon they'll be able to sit in front of their TVs and surf the sites, if Boxee has anything to say about it.

For now, Boxee users will be able to exchange music, photos and other digital content from their computers, but the next step will be having social networks like Facebook available for large screen viewing. In this start-up phase, you’ll still have to lug your laptop over and use cables to connect—no wireless yet.

Whatever happened to good, old-fashioned get-togethers where people actually meet in person to watch a game or barbeque? With everything moving to online venues and now over to the TV, it's just an encouragement to keep kids indoors. They need to be experiencing life and interacting with people in a live setting as opposed to in their living room in front of the TV. Talk about your electronic babysitter.

How do you feel about these so-called advancements in technology? Are we encouraging laziness? [CNET]
