Quit Smoking and Score Some Cash!

Need a little extra incentive to quit smoking? How about, oh around $1,500?

All summer long, the Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation group is promoting its “Quit to Win” contest where people who want to stop smoking can sign up to win money. The finalists will be tested after 30 days to make sure they’re nicotine-free, and the top three winners will split $5,000.

Currently, Indiana has the sixth highest rate of smokers in the United States. However, like the states of New York, Florida and South Carolina, Indiana increased its taxes on tobacco products last July and since then, smoking rates have fallen almost 18%.

Besides cash prizes, what other creative solutions do you think might help people quit smoking? How about a personal trainer every day for a year to help people quit smoking? Vigorous workouts will make your lungs and brain shriek at the thought of a cigarette. [WIBC]
