Improve Your Relationship with Your Physician

Going to the doctor can be an anxiety-producing event. So how can you get the most out of your visit? The American Academy of Family Physicians offers several important tips. First, please bring a list of all your medications and their dosages. This is important so that the doctor can check for any interactions and not try you on a medication that you’re already taking. Next, feel free to speak up and ask questions. It’s okay to take notes during the visit to be sure that you understand everything fully. Lastly, if you’ve forgotten something when you get home, go ahead and call the doctor or their nurse for clarification. The more active a role you take in your health care, the more your doctor will be able to help you stay well.
