Finding Good Cheer

A divorce can be especially difficult if it’s made public in any way.

Christine Olson was married to beloved University of Arizona basketball coach Lute Olson for five years before the couple announced their divorce last year. She was called a gold-digger on sports blogs and radio shows, but she hasn’t made a habit of speaking about the split. Instead she has continued her fund-raising work with Republican groups in Arizona, hosting regular meetings in her Tucson home.

It might be tempting to give up on long-standing activities when you’re experiencing the pain and stress of a divorce, but one of the best things you can do for yourself is to maintain a sense of normalcy amid the chaos. It’s natural to let frivolous things go by the wayside, but if its possible try to hang on to the activities and causes you feel are essential to your personality.
