"I was actually waiting for your book to come out at Barnes and Noble, and reserved it two weeks before it came out. I told my therapist about it and your web site and how you made a positive impact on me." -M

Think Outside the Cube

Think Outside the Cube

We’re pretty sure that most people like cubicles about as much as flies like frogs—which is to say, not at all. So why stay in a job that sucks the creative life out of you? It’s time to think outside the cube, people! Here’s a list of some of the fastest growing careers for people that need a creative outlet or just want to get out of the cubicle.

• Entrepreneur
You’re the boss, applesauce. OK, so maybe we’ve been around our nephews a little much lately, but the point is, being an entrepreneur is freedom and creativity in one. You choose what you want to do and how you want to do it. Work hard and deliver a quality product or service and the money will come.

• Cruise Director
Everyday is a vacation for these guys. If you’ve got a sunny disposition, enjoy life and adventure, and are an extrovert then this may be perfect for you. You’ll still have to learn a little about management because you’re dealing with employees and guests – sometimes balancing the two can be tricky—but with the hospitality degree under your belt, the sky, or rather the ocean, is the limit. No boring cubicles here!

• Environmental Scientist
Are you a bit of a nature freak? Do khaki shorts and hiking boots sound like great attire for the office to you? Well then, becoming an environmental scientist may be just what you need. These guys spend their days outdoors protecting their workplace – nature. The responsibilities vary depending on location and other factors, but all in all, a day in the sun protecting what you enjoy AND making money while doing it can’t be beat.

What's your out-of-the cube dream job? If you’re in any of these industries, please share your experiences! [Yahoo!]
