Elizabeth Turnbull knew it was going to be a challenge to afford both her graduate school tuition at Yale and an estimated $14,000 in living expenses. So instead of putting all of her money into a rental, she decided to build her own tiny green home.

The forestry and environmental studies masters student decided to use her expertise to build the most sustainable home possible -a portable 8 by 18 feet structure built atop a flatbed trailer and entirely powered by solar panels.

"The Tiny House has taken me by the hand and led me through the process of building it," she said. "You know when you are doing something and the process takes over? Your arms are moving because the project has almost gotten inside your body and told you what to do."

Hunting for your new home can be a long and arduous process, but once you find the one that's right, you too may find yourself possessed with the spirit of the project. Follow your heart and don't settle for something that doesn't suit you! Tell us-would you build a sustainable home? Or are you simply trying to make your current residence a bit more environmentally friendly? [Seattle Times]
