Your Life On A Million Dollars A Day: My Change Nation Interview With Jack Canfield
If someone gave you a million dollars a day, but you still had to work (doing anything you wanted with guaranteed success), what would you do? That's the question that Jack Canfield, co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, suggests asking yourself to figure out what you're meant to do in life. "Get back to a childlike state," he advises. "Look back over your life…what are the things that brought you the greatest joy?"
According to Canfield, we become out of touch with what we want over years of parenting and conditioning. "Kids always know what they want to do," he says. But then, parents start telling them what they should do—for example, you'll make more money being a doctor, you should go to the best school, you should study this and so on. "Kids begin to be numbed out in terms of what it is they really love," he concludes.
Canfield reminds us that it's possible to make a living doing whatever you love, even traveling or surfing. "When we're tapped into our higher purpose," he says, "the Universe then responds by giving us all of the resources, the opportunities, the people and the meetings that we need in order to bring that about."
