To Dream, the Impossible Dream

To Dream, the Impossible Dream

In 1901, Orville and Wilbur Wright attempted to fly the largest glider ever, and after loads of problems, it was predicted that man would probably not fly in their lifetime. Sounds funny now, but imagine if they had actually given up right then and there?

You'd never have to go through the airport sans shoes, trying to cram a week's worth of items into a small bag so you don't have to pay exorbitant bag loading fees...uh, hey. Maybe the bus sounds good, after all...

Hassles of modern flight aside, it's good for us that the brothers Wright never stopped chasing their dream. They went back to the drawing board, and on December 17th, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered flight in history, showing us that with enough hard work and willpower, anything is possible.

What’s your impossible (make that POSSIBLE) dream? A new life situation? A technological innovation? World peace? Right now, take a minute to write it down, so it becomes more tangible to you and not just some made-up fantasy. Perhaps tomorrow, on the anniversary of that spectacular (if short) flight, you'll reach for your own dream in some small way.

Know what you’re after and keep chasing that dream, no matter how many roadblocks you hit along the way. Just believe in yourself, don’t give up, and you’ll get there. That’s what Orville and Wilbur did, so there's no reason you can't do it too!

My dream is that one day no more murders will happen, and kids who are young will get to have the chance to show their moms and dads their babies.
