Time Warp: Take a Marital Rating Test

Time Warp: Take a Marital Rating Test

Want to see if your marriage will hold up over time? A Flickr user has posted a very amusing 1950’s-era marriage test that claims to be a “Blueprint for Happiness.” It’s basically a series of statements that are either counted as merits or demerits in your relationship and your score determines how good or bad a spouse you are.

While many of them are clearly outdated, i.e. “Talks of efficiency of his stenographer or other women,” and “Fails to sew on buttons or darn socks regularly.” Most of them still ring true half a century later. Here are a few of the best examples:

Demerits:
“Belches without apology, or blows nose at the table.”
“Slow in coming to bed—delays ‘till husband is almost asleep.”

Merits:
“Helps wife with dishes, caring for children, scrubbing”
“Has spunk—will defend her ideals and religion.

Take the test yourself and let us know how you did. [Flickr.com]
