Be a Love Localvore!

Be a Love Localvore!

When it comes to getting groceries, you’ve heard it from dozens of different sources now, “Shop locally,” “Go to your local farmer’s markets,” “Buy organic.” These mantras are all designed to help us do our part to save the environment as well as improve our health. However, shopping at your local Trader Joe’s could also help you find romance like Gail Petersen and Alan Hock of Arizona.

Gail and Alan crossed paths in the produce section. Gail, in her 50s and a mother of two grown sons, had been single for 13 years. Alan, also in his 50s and a father of two grown daughters, had been single for 18 years. They ended up in the same checkout lane and made small talk. Small talk led to more talking in the parking lot that led to an exchange of business cards that led Alan to email Gail asking for a lunch date. That lunch date was the beginning of a new relationship where Gail and Alan learned they had either worked or lived a few miles apart from one another throughout the last 13 years. After one year of dating, the couple married.

Have you ever met a special someone while grocery shopping? What are some of your favorite local stories of how couples met? [The Arizona Republic]
