Question:How do you decide just what kind of pet to adpt and do you take into consideration the presence of any children and other pets you might have?

All puppies and kittens are cute and I would take everyone I see home if possible, especially the ones in shelters. if I had nothing else to consider. However, I had a 14 yr. old cat who is not the friendliest on the planet and has been through alot of change, and a 2 yr. old cocker spaniel that I got with another puppy at the age of 6 weeks. When the other puppy died, something happened to this one, and she has not been the same since. As much as I would like to get another puppy, I don't think he would be welcome by either the cat or the dog. So I'm forced to sit by and watch all these animals be advertised by the Wayside Waifs as needing homes and not be able to do anything about it. Where do you get the pictures of the puppies and kittens you put at the top? Theyre adorable.

Answer:

I think you're very smart to take into consideration the other animals in the house. It could get pretty uncomfortable pretty quickly if the new animals and the existing animals didn't get along.

If you really love animals and don't want to bring any more home you could consider doing some volunteer work at a local animal shelter. I'm sure they could use your loving!
