Not according to researchers at the University of Missouri, who recently published an article debunking the “myth” of empty nest syndrome. While they regard that this is an important transition for families to go through, they see it as an overwhelmingly positive time for dear old mom and dad.
In their study, researchers found that most parents enjoyed the change as it happened, and felt a stronger bond as their relationship with the child became more peerlike.
