The Name Game

What’s in a name? There can be pride, detachment, or hurt feelings. Figuring out what your stepchildren are going to call you, and what you’re going to call them, needs careful thought and consideration. You don’t want to overstep boundaries, insult anyone or make assumptions. FamilyEducation says to be sure to discuss the topic with your spouse—and the kids too, if they’re old enough—so you’ll all be comfortable with the decision.
