What are some inexpensive furniture stores in the NYC area? 
Not a store, but Craiglist! There's a furniture section and even a Free section. Even more guerrilla than that, I think half my apartment is from street finds.
Target has some stuff as well.

There's always the new IKEA out in Red Hook. I really like West Elm as well.
