Question:Have you heard of the 100-mile diet?

The idea being we should get our food and drink from within a 100 mile radius of where we live. Would this be possible for you?

Answer:

Would it be possible now, oh yes it sure would be. However I once lived above the arctic circle and I worked on a drilling platform and this diet would have not been feasible for me no way no how. Unless I wanted to eat nothing but snow and panda bears! ROTFLMFAO! But yes, who wouldn't agree that his idea is the way to go for sure.

Answer:

Yes I try to live this way. My husband is a chef and local is very important to us. We live in California near a lot of farms so it may be easier for us than for some people. There are many farmers markets in cities to get local produce. Things like salt are more difficult. However choosing sustainable practices makes up for it. We use salt from Tibet that is harvested by monks and not mined in a way that hurts the earth. We also use coffee that it processed locally from organic beans. We make chocolate from raw cacao. These exotic things are treats. We have an organic garden and seven fruit trees, The 100 mile diet can be difficult but it results in an appreciation of local food and relationship to it.
