When Cinderella was ready to meet her Prince Charming, all it took was a couple of flicks from her fairy godmother's wrist and she changed her look in no time. The rest of us might take quite a bit longer to be ready for a ball, especially if we knew we wanted to find romance and make our snooty stepsisters jealous at the same time.

According to a new study commissioned by an Australian beauty company, women spend an average of 3,276 hours or 136 days of their lives getting ready for a night out. That's compared with 1,092 hours for men. That adds up to a lot of primped up women and men with an extra 2,000 hours on their hands.

The survey also found that only a third of women actually enjoyed all the preparation.

"There's a host of waxing, exfoliating, moisturizing, straightening, polishing and plucking involved in getting ready for a night out. When you're stretched for time or just simply want to get out, see your friends and have a good time, the routine of getting ready can often be an unwanted task," explained Heather Boden from Skinbliss, the company that commissioned the research.

This survey only involved Australian women, but we're guessing the results would be similar worldwide. How long do you take to get ready for a night on the town? [The Telegraph]

Yikes...I totally don't have the patience for it. Luckily I have good hair, cheeks that are always a little pink and lack of interest in primping for more than 10 minutes.

I've always taken pride in the fact that I can get ready lickity split, but lately I've been wondering if men appreciate it when a woman has obviously put forth an extra effort to look good for a date.

When it comes to getting ready for a night out, I usually enjoy spending the extra time to primp because through the week, I have my primping routine (that includes hair and make up) down to under 10 minutes.

I must be living in bizarro world because I swear that my husband takes so much more time to get ready than I do. I'm often nudging him to speed up!
