The Road to the Green House

The Road to the Green House

While all eyes were on Obama and his history-making speech last night, Democrats and Republicans hope to use their conventions to show the world just how green they can be.

The Democratic Party tried to make a green home of its temporary residence in Colorado during its convention this week. The Democratic National Convention Committee hired a "Director of Greening," used beer-based ethanol for fuel and briefed all catering companies on proper waste management procedures.

They also recruited a team of 900 volunteers who spent the entire convention acting as trash can and recycle bin guard dogs, making sure all of the waste was properly sorted and sent to the correct facility.

Representatives from the Republican Party said that they will also be greening their convention in Minnesota, but they won't be taking it to quite that extreme. "Having someone stand next to a trash can? I don't think so," Republican National Convention spokeswoman Yohana de La Torre told Physorg.com. That sounds like a challenge to us! It will be interesting to see which party finishes first in the race for to have history's greenest convention.

Are you conservative when it comes to keeping your home green, or do you take a more liberal approach?
