Unexpected Miracles

Unexpected Miracles

A lamb born in a transport truck on the way to a Bronx slaughterhouse was rescued by Farm Sanctuary, the nation's leading farm-animal-protection organization, last week. A Good Samaritan spotted the minutes-old lamb as the sheep were being unloaded and convinced the slaughterhouse manager to hand him over to her. Reportedly, the newborn spent the first five days of his life following the woman's elderly mother around like a puppy!

"We have named the little lamb Angelo, meaning messenger," says Meredith Turner of Farm Sanctuary. "He will become an ambassador for his species, educating thousands of visitors to our NY shelter about the horrors endured by animals just like him everyday on factory farms."

This beautiful story is just one example of the incredible work that Farm Sanctuary is doing to promote compassionate living. To learn more, listen to my interview with Gene Baur, founder of Farm Sanctuary and author of the best-selling Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds about Animals and Food.

I was looking for some serious personal change in my life, and thought I was on to something here. Wow! I did not expect this. I did not know you were an animal rights/vegin. I have been involved in animal agriculture all my life. Their is so much misinformation and agenda driven crap in this interview it reeks. Sure animal Agriculture is not perfect, and as in every profession their are some bad apples. The family farmer cares deeply about the animals that are their livelyhood. One example, he said a sow is in a farrowing crate most of her life. Reality, four to six weeks twice a year. And that is so they can watch them during the birthing process and make it as easy on the sow as possible, and to protect the pigletts from being stepped on, and to make sure they learn to nurse so they will live. What different worlds we live in. Jesus tells a story in Luke 15 about a family that farmed and he said, in Luke 15:23 Bring the fatted calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate.
