TV Rules

Imagine just sitting on your couch for hours at a time staring at the wall. That’s essentially what you’re doing when you watch TV. Just sitting there, staring. Not moving, except towards the kitchen. Letting other people fill your brain. Encouraging obesity and a short attention span. And getting absolutely nothing done in the process. Pretty grim, eh?

Now, imagine this. The next time you have nothing to do, instead of getting sucked into passivity, leave the TV off. Think activity—not just the physical kind, but something to stimulate creativity. Read a book, chat with friends or create something with your hands. Put on a talent show with your kids, tell stories. The list of things to do is endless. And, unlike staring at a box, you won’t end up cranky, restless and over stimulated.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t watch TV at all. There’s nothing like sitting down to a favorite show or a family movie night. But, as they say, everything in moderation.

Everything in moderation, including moderation! I don't watch a lot of t.v. Was raised on the stuff. It bores me. I love to read! When the tube comes on, I get up on my gazelle & work out. Two for one!
