Question:What dog breeds are good to have if you or a family member have allergies?

I have White West Highland Terriers...they don't shed, but I can feel myself get sneezy if I have my face near their fur for too long. Does anyone have suggestions for dogs that are completely hypoallergenic?

All dogs shed to some degree. Some a crazy amount, some a little. There could be other issues playing against you too. I suggest reading this awesome article on minimal shedding dogs and their background info! Link

You might not just be allergic to the dander. People are often allergic to a protein, called Can f 1, found in their saliva and urine. Here is some more info: Link

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a completely hypoallergenic dog. If you're sensitive enough, you'll react to all pet dander. Check out this list for dogs that shed the least Link

I'm not sure what causes people to be allergic to pets, but I do know there are some breeds who don't shed as much as others. Here's a link I found to a site that lists dogs that don't shed much:
