Question:Is there a breed of cat that likes dogs?

I know of some cats and dogs who live together and are friends, but is there such a thing as a breed of cat that likes dogs?

Answer:

Cats are not really as breed-oriented as dogs are. I would say, the key to cat/dog friendliness is age. I find that the younger the cat is when a dog is introduced, the more willing it is to accept the dog. My cat was 5 when we got our first dog, and they are friendly (even today). But she is now 14 when I picked up my dog-and she is NOT happy with the newest addition to the family.

Answer:

Hi VBianchini, I am not sure if there is a particular breed of cat that gets along better with dogs. If you get a kitten and a puppy, they should grow up nicely together. I have had cats and dogs my whole life and they have gotten along.

Some breeds of dogs are more likely to want to chase after cats, so be careful if you are bringing a cat in with a dog that may be on the aggressive side.

Answer:

I don't know about that specifically, but my cat Linus, who is a persian, warmed up to my pug, Daisy, quite well. He is a very cautious, gentle, non-agressive cat. And he is social and sweet without being clingy. Can you tell I adore him? Persians are generally mild-tempered, so I think that's a good breed for dogs and kids. Also, I understand Siamese cats are quite friendly too.
