The (Pet) Name Game

Hey Fido! Here, Whiskers! Hey- how about picking a more original name for your pet?

If you’re thinking about adopting a pet, one part of the process is choosing a name. If you want to give your pet a name that has some originality and pizzazz, but are having some difficulty in finding just the right fit, try funpetnames.com. They have over 20,000 pet names, and you can search by type of animal, gender, or name origin. They’ll also tell you what the name means.

Let’s say you want to give your poodle an interesting name of Celtic origin. How about Kassadi? It means “curly haired.” And what about something fancy for you goldfish? Zehuva is on the fish name list, and it’s Hebrew for “golden." Now, actually remembering what you named your pets might be a bit harder when you give them such distinctive names, but won’t it make for interesting conversation at the dog park?

What are some of the most outlandish names that you have heard of or given your pets?
