Johansson’s fiancé, Ryan Reynolds, who played the title role in “Van Wilder,” played the whole thing a little bit more low key. He reportedly gave his friends the news of his engagement via text message!

While this medium of communication may be suitable for say, asking your secretary to pick up your dry cleaning, it’s probably one of the least appropriate methods for formally announcing your engagement. If you’re going to go digital, at least put it on your Myspace or Facebook profile and add pictures and/or video.

Also, putting your announcement in the local newspaper may seem a little old fashioned, but it will also provide a tangible keepsake that won’t be deleted when the memory is full on your friends’ cell phones. [Contactmusic.com]
