Everyday Change

Who Cares If It Turns Out Right?

Unless you're building a skyscraper or fixing a brain, there's room for error in your work. Sometimes, not forcing greatness/perfection leads to bigger and better ideas. So let go of whether a project is "right," and just let it be what it'll be.
"Ever since I subscribed to your site the daily reminders are the only thing I read apart from email and the NY Times headlines and weather. I am hugely critical of most self-help information, but this is not what your site is. I save 1 in 2 of these and have kept a library folder. They are intelligent, concise, relevant and are pitched at exactly the right level." -Martin Chalk, CEO, Balance Water

Project 10^100

Project 10^100

Is there anything the much-more-than-a-search-engine Google doesn’t do? Google has recently launched Project 10^100, “a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.” Why this particular project right now? Because the web provides all the tools and access to information that makes real change possible. If making change is easier for you, why not help someone else a little less fortunate?

Part of the mission states that, “maybe the answer that helps somebody is in your head, in something you’ve observed, some notion that you’ve been fiddling with, some small connection you’ve noticed, some old thing you have seen with new eyes.” While that sounds vague, it should allow you to really think outside the box and use your skills and brainstorming to come up with something.

The deadline for ideas is soon (October 20) and the site has all the information you need to learn more and pursue the project. There’s even a short, adorably-animated video to help get you started. Can you think of anything off the top of your head, even if it seems small?

Ideas come to me by the boatload. TIme for reflection, though, is rare. So, my raw ideas rarely get a chance to develop. If you're like me, but have time to develop your ideas, it's not a bad "idea" to have a partner with whom you may discuss your ideas. It speeds up the process.
