Going Down in History
Oral sex hasn't always been an appetizer; it used to be the dessert. Over the years the cultural attitude towards oral sex has changed significantly to a point where the act is less stigmatized and engaged in more often to improve one's sex life.
When Alfred Kinsey began studying sexual relationships back in the late 1940's oral sex was considered more intimate and many couples waited until after they were married to engage in the activity. Then with the advent of free love in the 1970's societal attitudes shifted and oral sex began to be accepted for unmarried couples. It appears that the next generation of lovers will bring even more experience into the bedroom. A 2002 survey of 12,571 Americans by the National Center for Health Statistics found that 55% of teens aged 15 to 19 said they've engaged in oral sex.
Which time period best resembles your attitude towards oral sex? Do you prefer to leave certain activities for after you've said "I Do," or are you a free lovin' soul? [Slate]
