Helen Kim on Having More Money

Helen Kim on Having More Money

Since some of our listening audience may not yet know who you are, would you please tell us a bit about yourself.

As a Money Relationship Mentor, I help people make conscious financial decisions, so they can gain clarity with their relationships and emotions as they relate to money and live in peace with them.

You are a great success. Because of what you've accomplished and where you are in life, what would you tell others to Inspire them today, regardless of where they are in their life?

Everything starts with a decision, whether it's a decision to quit your job to do what you really love, sell your house and possessions to move to Africa, start a non-profit or start a family. You can always correct your course if you need to, but unless you make that first decision, you're being re-active rather than pro-active. Then, when you do make a decision, you're able to walk through a door and see what's on the other side.

We all know that inspiration can change lives. Can you share a personal story of someone who inspired you and made a difference in your life or a defining moment or experience that inspired you or changed your life?

Years ago, when I was asked for whom I was living my life, I realized I needed to make some changes in order to be able to respond, "Myself."

You make it look easy, but I'm guessing you've experienced challenges in your life. Can you share with our listeners how that has strengthened you to reach success? In other words, how do you overcome adversity?

I have learned to surround myself with people who have overcome and achieved much more than I, so when the going gets tough I can turn to them for strength and advice and, when needed, a shoulder to cry on.

We all have ideas on how to improve our lives, whether it be a new job, moving to a new city, or finding love, but change can be a bit scary sometimes. Can you please share an experience with us where you "stepped off the ledge" with only faith, and took a big risk, based only on your belief that you would succeed?

Many years ago I moved to a foreign country. I knew only one person. Somehow, I met one person, who then introduced me to her friends, who introduced me to their friends and so on. As a result, I was having such a good time, I stayed longer than I had anticipated! It just goes to show that we are all connected and that no wo/man is an island.

How can others do what you did?

Find mentors and people who are steps or leaps and bounds ahead of you in all areas of life; relationally, spiritually, emotionally and in business. You need a community of supportive people who are mature enough to advise and help you.

What process, steps or exercises do you recommend that our listeners could do right now and each morning, to improve the quality of their lives?

I start each day off by listening to Bach as I find his music so pure. I've created a ritual that grounds me. It includes journaling, meditating, exercising, doing yoga or listening to music. It really helps set the tone for the rest of my day.

What's the greatest joy in your life?

I love witnessing people's lives changing for the better and being a part of that process makes my heart sing.

If you had to wrap up the wisdom of your life to leave as your legacy—call it YOUR BRILLIANCE—what important things that you've learned would you want to pass on to others?

Choose to be kind, loving and forgiving with yourself for it's from that vantage point that you can accomplish miracles, not just in your own life but in the lives of many. It starts with you.

If you had just one more thing that you could accomplish in your lifetime, what would it be?

I want to have a foundation that supports performing musicians.
