When sending an inquiry to a company about possible positions, remember to customize your pitch!
I get a lot of emails from recent grads who want jobs. In a tough market, it really helps to show that you've done your research and want to work at X company...we can always tell if you're sending the same cover letter to 20 places and it just lands you right in the trash pile.

I completely agree. I was so surprised when I was looking at identical cover letters for candidates. Clearly they had used the Word template.
