Home Office Chaos

Ah, the home office. Part personal space, part business space, part catch-all for any piece of paper in your home—it’s a place that’s probably in desperate need of some organizing. Thankfully, the organizing gurus have come up with some tips for making an efficient home office.

  • Divide personal and professional items. Keep two filing boxes or cabinets—one for you and one for work. Never the two shall meet.
  • Clean your desk. Remove any extra papers, knick-knacks, supplies, etc. and you’ll double or triple your workspace. (Don’t cut corners—put those items where they belong!)
  • Get good lighting. Make sure you can actually see what you’re doing in your office, and you’re more likely to get work done.
  • When in doubt, mount. You have a lot of space on your walls that you could hang up shelving, corkboards, cabinets, etc. Using these storage devices also leaves you with more floor space to move about.
