The painful smile of an over-Botoxed celebrity can be found in nearly any show or advertisement, and more and more Americans are following their lead. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, approximately 12 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in 2007, representing a 7% jump over the previous year. Botox was one of the more popular procedures, jumping 13% from 2006.
 
What’s even more staggering is how much Americans spent on these procedures. Dermatologists and plastic surgeons are now more than $12 billion richer, thanks to the obsession with youth that is rampant in this country. Have we lost the concept of aging gracefully?
 
You don’t have to go under the knife to look young and fresh. Tim Gunn, the designer from “Project Runway”  and host of “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style” says that changing your look can be as easy as making sure your clothing fits on you. [New York Post]
