Diaper Changing

Icon_tip_4
By now you’ve probably changed your child’s first diaper. Good job! For most men, this is probably the first time in their lives they have ever changed a diaper, even after swearing for years they would never change one. But was it really that bad? Probably not, and soon you will be such a pro at diaper changing you’ll be able to do it in your sleep (which may be the case sometimes when you’re waking up at 4 a.m.). Plus, your wife or partner will be so grateful, and it will make you even more of a man in her eyes.

Here are some quick tips for making diaper changing easier:
  • Do it quickly. You never know what surprises your child may have in store for you when he or she is diaperless.
  • Keep supplies close. Make sure to have clean diapers, wipes, powder and lotion at arm’s reach when changing a diaper.
  • Take off the baby’s socks. Babies tend to kick around when being changed, making it easier to get a heel in some poop.
  • Make the diaper snug. Close it tight enough so it stays on, but not too tight that it pinches skin.
  • Never leave the baby unattended. It’s all too easy for the baby to roll off a surface

Newborns use approximately 10 diapers every day, so take some of the burden off mom and strive to change at least two or more of those diapers every day.
