How to Stay Fit and Healthy After Graduation

JennaSmithCollege life is active, but once you graduate, chances are that you end up in a “sedentary” job where you easily gain weight. However, that can certainly be avoided if you commit to a healthy routine right away.

Exercise not only relieves stress but also make the transition easy by taking your confidence to the next level. You’ll have a much bigger advantage when you step into the corporate world. Besides that, it’s a lot easier to include an exercise regimen into your stressful work occupied schedule later on. With a little bit of planning and understanding, you definitely can get started on the right track.

Find Alternate Ways to Exercise

Chances are that when you were in college you had free access to the campus gym or at least a discounted membership in some other gym. However, now that you’re out of college, you either have to shell out the full price or find alternate ways to work out.

And if you are on a tight budget like most of the graduates, then you need to get a little more creative about how you’ll be taking care of exercise. For example, you can set up a home gym with some really basic equipment like a stability ball and dumbbells. You can also try running and walking when outside.

Set Your Schedule Right

College offers you much more freedom/time when it comes to exercise. But with a full time job you may not have the liberty to find time for exercise. The solution is set a schedule that works for you.

For instance, if you’re hunting for a job then make exercise a part of your day to day routine so that you have more confidence, better mood and a good amount of energy. And if you’ve already started working then squeeze in a 10-15 minute workout break to help you keep fit.

Stay Fit at the Workplace

It’s easy to burn calories in college life since it’s vibrant and active where you move around the campus and go out partying. But it’s different when you’re chained to your desk at the office for 8 hours everyday.

The solution? Get creative at the office so that you’re able to stay active. Go out there and walk the stairs during breaks. Get a pair of asics onitsuka shoes and walk, run or bike when you find time. Park your car further away. And above all, avoid eating junk food during lunch breaks. There are endless ways to stay healthy and fit at work, you just need to think out of the box.

Every college graduate sees their life changing after graduating. But this change doesn’t mean that the “fitness” factor goes for a toss. You still can stay healthy and fit after college by taking simple steps such as the ones we discussed above.
