The Big Questions: Live from TED Day 2
Yesterday was a great day — there was so much great content shared. The four main questions that several speakers attempted to answer were:
What is Life?
Is Beauty Truth?
Will Evil Prevail?
How can we change the world?

The Big Questions: Live from TED Day 1
I am incredibly lucky to once again be attending one of the most amazing conferences in the world, TED. TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, gathers together the best minds in each for a four day discussion around a central theme. This year’s theme is “The Big Questions.” Why are we here? What is our place in the universe? How do we change the world? How dare we be optimistic? and so on.

Changing Religions
Yesterday, all of the major media organizations covered a new study on the religious affiliations of people in the United States done by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. The “U.S. Religious Landscape Survey,” reports that more than a quarter of the American adults (28%) have left the faith in which they were raised in favor of another religion or no religion at all.

Change Heroes
Close to the beginning of every year, I like look to back at those who made it their mission to initiate positive change in the world — the Change Heroes. It is important to honor the people — past and present — who have dedicated their lives to changing things for the better.

Billboards Calling for Change!
What would you do if you were driving along and saw a tastefully designed billboard that said, 30DaySexChallenge.com? You’d go to web site, of course. And, shockingly, you’d find that a Florida minister is responsible for the billboard and the movement.

Oscar Night 2008
I watched the Oscars last night and wondered what was different this year. My first thought was that there were a lot of international acknowledgments — nominations for foreign actors, actresses, films and documentaries. Bravo to Marion Cotillard for winning “Best Actress” for La Vie en Rose — highly recommended, such beautiful acting. I don’t think that was it though. The whole show, despite Jon Stewart and his lovely humor, felt a bit more serious for some reason — more mature somehow.

Studio Space
Welcome to my Studio. I’m calling this space a studio as it’s going to be a place of exploration, discussion, creativity and inspiration on one word — CHANGE. Change is the word of the year, maybe even the decade. It’s all around us, all the time. We experience changes in our health, relationships, careers, finances and families, and then we hear about and face social, environmental and political changes.

Making Changes for Yourself
From time to time, I’m going to present some of my favorite quotes — some about change, some that inspire and some that just get us all thinking. Today I’d like to share a quote from James A. Baldwin, a vital literary voice of civil-rights activism in the 1950s and 1960s.

Does Castro’s Resignation Really Mean Change?
Yesterday the media was flooded with news of Fidel Castro’s resignation — talk about change. Castro has ruled for 49 years. He is the world’s longest serving head of state (excluding monarchies), including monarchies, he’s third, after Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and the King of Thailand.

Theme of the Year
If you had to pick a theme for this year, what would it be? Mine is: To Put Life First.
Work always gets done, no matter what. It’s the other things in life that tend to slip away. So I’m committed to change and put life first this year. What haven’t you given time to?
Goals are great. A theme however, can carry you through days when you don’t know what to focus on or it’s unclear what is most important.
