Changes in Safety and Security

A post from my travels...

I am in Switzerland skiing with family, and I’ve noticed something interesting: Everyone is buying and wearing helmets this year! Intrigued, I did a bit of asking around and yes, shops have sold more helmets this season than in the last 10 years combined. Now that’s a change!

Coincidentally, before I left, I promised a friend in New York that I would ski with a helmet—and I’m not sure why. I hadn't heard about how everyone is leaning in this direction. Is it because we are all skiing faster, valuing life more, following a trend or not as concerned as to how we look like?

There is definitely a trend toward wanting to feel safer and more secure. I did some research and found out that many of my friends have signed up for a life insurance policy within the last year. Is this an age thing? Or are we, overall, just becoming more responsible?

My boyfriend's friend was in a near-death accident skiing this year...without a helmet. My boyfriend had just the day before purchased his own helmet. Maybe it's from experience, or maybe it just that today we realize life is fragile and we need to take care of ourselves a little bit better.
