Your Diagnosis Lifestyle

Icon_tip_9

For many people, a health diagnosis can be a long-term concern. Conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and even hypothyroidism require constant monitoring and often, your life will need to change to accommodate your condition.

That’s what happened to Judy DuBos of Baton Rouge, LA, when she was diagnosed with diabetes. The diagnosis didn’t paralyze her. She resolved to change whatever she had to in her life to battle the disease.

“My diagnosis forced me to pay attention to the content and quality of my food choices,” Judy says. “Before I ate more junk than good food. I had very poor eating habits.”

Judy immediately stopped her junk food habit and worked on eating a balanced diet. She also made sure to take her insulin regularly. After she made those changes, she saw a major increase in her energy and her overall health. She continues to monitor her lifestyle and gets exercise from gardening.

Look at your current lifestyle and see where you can make improvements to accommodate your diagnosis. Regardless of the condition that you have, it’s likely that you could help your body recover by eliminating unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking and eating fatty foods. Try incorporating some healthy lifestyle choices into your treatment plan, such as eating a healthy diet and incorporating more exercise.
