Avoid the Blame Game
After receiving a health diagnosis, you may feel compelled to examine everything you’ve ever done in your life to figure out why you’re sick. You may try to find some sort of explanation—whether you didn’t exercise enough, you didn’t get a certain test when you should have or maybe you should have taken your vitamins.
You’re not to blame, Even if you’ve been doing everything right when it comes to taking care of your body, you can still get sick. As good as modern medicine is, no one knows why conditions occur in some people and not in others. You can’t predict whether you’ll get a certain disease. Unfortunately, there’s no explanation for why your body does what it does most of the time.
Work on accepting your diagnosis and don’t blame yourself for coming down with this condition. It’s OK to examine your life and make healthy changes, but don’t berate yourself over what you could have done to prevent this from happening. The important part is you’re getting the medical help you need to get healthy.
Life is not predictable and neither is your health. Appreciate what you have and work as hard as you can to get better.
