Question:How do you deal with pressure from others to stay at home?

I don't even have kids yet, but I've already made the decision that I would have to go back to work since my job is too good to give up. However, I've received pressure from my friends and family to stay home. I'm tired of having to reiterate my opinion!!! Any advice! Again, I don't even HAVE kids yet!

Answer:

After you have a baby, people are going to share a lot of their thoughts and opinions with you - whether you ask for it or not! I always find that simply saying, "Thanks for your advice, but I'm going to do what's best for my family" works pretty well. It's a nice way to say, "Thanks, now shut up!" If they don't take the hint, then you can always just excuse yourself from the conversation. The fact of the matter is that some women like to work, while others have no other choice but to return to the workplace after having a baby. Either way, no one should make you feel guilty about your decision!
