Vista Weighs in

Scooch aside, MacBook Air—there’s a lighter laptop in town. Hewlett Packard’s 2133 Mini-Note PC ranks in at just 2.6 pounds (compared to Air’s 3 pounds) and will be available online and shipping to stores on April 15th.

While the high-resolution screen is a few inches smaller than Mac’s, you can’t beat the price: Vista is available for $599—a third of the cost of an Air. Also included in the Vista package is a 1.2-GHz processor, 1 GB of memory, a 120-GB hard drive, a webcam and an internal collision guard, a protection in case the computer is dropped.

Aimed for travelers and students, this could be a great graduation or going-away gift. (Hint-hint, parents!) [San Francisco Chronicle]
