Application Overload

Are your friends constantly bombarding you with requests to hug them or rate how hot they are? Not in real life, though, this is Facebook life. They always want you to paste a silly application on your profile and it’s driving you crazy!

You are not alone—there are nearly 100 groups on the site to petition Facebook to ban some or all applications. This includes several “official” groups, a cluster of people who want to ban apps that make you look like a “weirdo” and even groups that specify individuals that should be not allowed to send out any more annoying invites. With more than 22,000 third party applications offered on Facebook (and so many friends) it’s no wonder that you are receiving multiple requests a day. Oh, and maybe it’s also because many apps force you to invite 20 friends before you can add it yourself. Bummer.

Not only will an abundance of applications put your computer in potential danger, but a profile covered in virtual nonsense will be less professional and it will take twice as long for someone to find what he or she is looking for. Hint-hint: a recruiter looking for your work experience.

Next time you want to add another app to your cluttered profile, first think of yourself and your friends. [Time]
