The Big Day

Congratulations! The first 30 days of starting college marks the beginning of a new phase in your life. Your experiences over the next month will set the tone for the rest of your freshman year and perhaps your entire college career. Regardless of what you may be feeling right now, keep in mind that you are not alone. Just like you, other young adults are facing the fears associated with this new adventure.

Perhaps you’re nervous about succeeding in academics, making friends or financing your college career—regardless, you can get through this transition with a little tenacity and lot of positive attitude. Over the next 30 days, you’ll realize that these first weeks are a lot easier—and loads more fun—than you may have imagined.

Whether you just finished shopping for last minute supplies or you’ve already started classes, welcome to college! You are about to make some of the most memorable and defining moments of your life—enjoy!

Today, call a friend or family member and share with them your excitement and anxieties about starting this journey. You’ll feel relieved to talk to someone familiar, and sharing your feelings will probably give you a burst of adrenaline about getting started.

DID YOU KNOW? In 2006, approximately 1.6 million high school graduates decided to continue their education and enroll in college. Of those students, at least 93% students planned to attend school full-time.
