I have paid off all of my credit card debit and would like to close some of the accounts to keep things organized. Does the closing of accounts effect your credit rating in either direction?
You should close newer accounts first, but keep older accounts open if you can. I just did this in my own life, actually. If you have shown that you've had one particular credit card for 5 years and you've managed to pay off the balance and be responsible for it, closing that one will affect your score more than if you close one you've only had open for 1 year. Either way, it will affect your score, but closing newer ones will hurt less.
