Ellen's Registry Hoax

If you’re wondering what to get talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres and her actress fiancé, Portia de Rossi, you could try Bed, Bath and Beyond. DeGeneres proudly announced the pair’s wedding plans on Friday on the heels of the exciting announcement that the ban on gay marriage has been overturned in California.

“We’re registered at Crate and Barrel,” she joked.

According to gossip website TMZ, someone took the comedienne’s joke to another level and opened up a fake registry at the popular home furnishing store. The couple says they’re not actually registered anywhere.

If you’re like Ellen and Portia and are not signing up for a traditional registry, there are plenty of alternatives. You can create your own personalized list and email it to guests, ask to have money donated in your name to a favorite charity or have guests contribute to specific parts of your honeymoon like rental cars, gas or one night at the hotel.

What's your take on wedding registries? Tell us what you plan to do for your wedding. [TMZ]
